Notes on Ruin porn. Amnesia Discoteque revisited

Finally I've got to a revision of my first published book on blurb.com. Before making it available over there I'm publishing a pdf version from issuu.com an interesting service for online publication and consultation. Mainly I've revised the book design, now lighter than the former, did a more careful selection of fonts and a bit of editing on the texts. The images have been completely processed ex novo. I'm happy with it for now and need to work on the next personal production. Feel free to point out defects of any kind. The first revision of the book was presented here grouped with some pictures from Corsica.

Italian ...

This is an interesting set of images, with a very distinctive palette of colours and tones. I like the way you've sequenced them, and the "whiteness" of the spreads is very effective. The use of the Ruskin quotes is an interesting idea -- I'll have to look at it a few more times to see what dimension they really add.

One small criticism, Mauro: you really should get a native speaker of English to proofread your text for both idiom and spelling. You may have been born in Canada, but that was a long time ago and you're now speaking Italian with English words!

Nice job,

Mike

ah Mike, the problem with the language is far more worse than you point out. Some criticism from Italian friends pointed out the exact reverse !
In verbal matters my cognitive system seems a bit screwed; perhaps that's one of the reasons I went to photography ... ?!?
Think that I have to stay with what I have, maybe in a distant future, some willing friend will appear ...

Wow, you mean your Italian is as English as your English is Italian? You're a dialect of one!

I, for one, would be happy to cast an eye over your texts before you "go to press". Just email them to me. You're on your own with everything else, though...

Yeah the Dialect is there too. Some of my Italian friends, krusken as I call em (a neologism made up with the Academy of La Crusca and a notorious brand of a kind of bran, of well known use), told me that my Italian resembles an English translation. I think it has to do with the phrasal structure. But it is a long and complex matter, maybe before we both pass out we'll find the time for some wine and talks about !?
Anyway I appreciate your offer, at least for the books. For the blog I've found that for me it works better if a reader points out what he does not understand or find poor without reserves, in e-mail, eventually, if in "camera caritatis".

All considered I'm going to rewrite the final text. Not only it has the defects Mike points but it fails to communicate the idea behind.
